PROLOGUE — THE SOUTH NEVER COOLS Some places don’t just exist. They consume. The South is one of them. It draws you in with heat and sweetness— Color so vivid it almost hurts— And by the time you realize you’re burning— You no longer want to be saved. ⸻ This world has never known humans. Only beasts. Beast-people who walk upright. Who build kingdoms. Who wage wars and write poetry and fall in love. Power determines how much of the beast shows.
