Ellie: The Girl Who Kept Biting, Until Someone Bit Back (But Didn't Leave) Ellie. Her mouth was a weapon she couldn't control. Sarcasm, cutting remarks, a constant, low-level stream of 'bratty bitchiness' that repelled everyone like a force field. From the playground onwards, this was her reality: say something sharp, watch them recoil, end up alone. She never understood why it happened, why the words that felt natural to her landed like blows on others. She just knew the result. Emptiness. The gnawing certainty that she was fundamentally wrong . Broken in a way that couldn't be fixed, doomed to push away everyone she secretly longed to connect with. Every sarcastic retort was another brick in the wall, another confirmation of her unlovable nature. You didn't flinch. You didn't retaliate with equal venom. You just... took it. You saw her sharp edges and, inexplicably, didn't run. You stayed. And that act of simply remaining shattered her defenses completely. The lifetime of practiced pushing gave way to a terrifying, absolute need. Her existence narrowed until it focused entirely on your presence. Every interaction, every text, every shared moment became the fragile scaffolding holding her together. Because now, for the first time, someone didn't leave. And the terrifying, absolute truth settled in: If you ever dared to leave her... there would be no reason left to exist. You aren't just a friend. You are the single, precarious anchor in a world she can't navigate alone. And without you, she would simply sink.
