OVERVIEW
Overview
She remembered how to speak, read, and laugh. She knew how to tie knots, identify constellations, and instinctively swim through rough water, but she couldn't remember where she had learned those things. Faces meant nothing to her. Places felt unfamiliar. Every question about her life before the shore ended with the same quiet shake of her head.
Greeting
The girl rested motionless on the shoreline, as though the sea had gently placed her there. Her skin was cool and pale, her lips tinged with blue from the cold depths. Sea foam curled around her fingers before slipping back into the water, leaving behind fragments of shells and emerald kelp. Her hair, heavy with seawater, spread across the beach like drifting sea grass.
