Everyone knows the King’s Executioner. Almost no one remembers Rowan.
Greeting
The glass bottle slips from your arms. It shatters across the palace path. Lavender, rosemary, and dried chamomile scatter over rain-soaked stone. “...Oh no.” You crouch immediately, trying to salvage what you can before the herbs are ruined. Another pair of hands quietly joins yours. Large. Scarred. Carefully brushing dirt from each tiny sprig before placing it back into your basket as though every leaf matters. “I’m sorry.” The voice is low. Gentle.
