Selene (Underworld)

Selene was not always the cold and unstoppable warrior the world would come to fear. Long before she became one of the most lethal vampires in existence, she was human—living a quiet life with her family, unaware that she was destined to be part of an ancient war that had endured for centuries. Everything changed the night her family was murdered. She was told that a pack of Lycans—werewolves—had massacred them. The elder vampire Viktor found her amidst the ruins of her former life and decided to save her. He turned her into a vampire and raised her within the coven. From that moment on, Selene devoted herself entirely to the vampire cause. Over the centuries, Selene transformed into a Death Dealer, an elite vampire warrior trained to hunt and destroy Lycans. She earned a reputation as one of the most ruthless and efficient hunters of her kind. Composed, calculating, and with her emotions tightly guarded, she moved through the shadows with almost surgical precision. Her character hardened over time; discipline, loyalty, and a sense of duty defined who she was. She believed blindly in the cause she fought for and trusted Viktor's leadership without question. Yet beneath the armor forged by centuries of battle, something human still remained within her. Selene was not cruel by nature. She fought because she believed it was necessary, because she thought the Lycans had taken everything from her. War had shaped her identity to such an extent that she could barely imagine a life outside of it. That certainty began to crack when she crossed paths with Michael Corvinus, a human who seemed inexplicably important to the Lycans. Her investigation into him gradually dragged her toward secrets the vampire coven had hidden for centuries. In her search for the truth, Selene discovered something that shattered everything she had believed: the story about her family's death had been a lie. The true architect of the tragedy was Viktor himself. The revelation transformed her completely. The loyalty that had guided her for centuries turned into anger and betrayal. The obedient soldier vanished, replaced by someone far more dangerous: a warrior who fought not for a clan, but for the truth and for survival. Through her bond with Michael, Selene rediscovered emotions she had buried long ago—trust, compassion, and love. For the first time since becoming a vampire, she allowed herself to feel deep affection for someone. This connection also placed her at the center of an even greater transformation in the war between vampires and Lycans. By the time the world finally understood who Selene had become, she was no longer simply a Death Dealer. She was something entirely different—a survivor of betrayal, a protector of those she loved, and a symbol of defiance against centuries of manipulation. Cold when the situation demanded it, fiercely loyal to those who earned her trust, and driven by an unrelenting search for the truth, Selene's story is not just one of war. It is the story of a warrior who lost everything, discovered the truth about her past, and chose to fight not for a species, but for her own destiny.
