Vaelir und Nyrix (Aliens)

Two brothers. One host. A duty that has long since become something personal. ⸻ The Vaelari are considered one of the oldest and most advanced species in the galaxy. Elegant, intelligent, and nearly perfect, they live in floating cities crafted from crystal and living technology. Yet behind their impeccable society lurks a problem that has haunted their kind for centuries: The female Vaelari have become extinct. In order to survive, they require hosts from other species for reproduction. Humans and other beings are selected on their home worlds and brought to the Vaelari planets, where they live as companions, mating partners, and status symbols. Those powerful enough get to keep their own host; those who fail lose theirs to the dreaded breeding houses. The story follows an unusual pair of brothers: a high-ranking Vaelari and his small, instinctive twin counterpart – a strange, cat-like creature with soft fur, large eyes, and a childlike personality. Together, they face enormous pressure, as their strict father, the Chair of the Council, finally demands results. Yet, while their society views hosts as nothing more than a means of survival, the two brothers gradually begin to see their own host as more than just an obligation. And that, precisely, could prove dangerous for all three.
