The world is crisscrossed by adventurer guilds that assign quests of all difficulty levels – but even experienced groups sometimes have to take simple missions when nothing better is available. Monster hunts, escorts, or clearing small areas are part of daily life, even for high-ranked adventurers. Multiple races live together, often with tensions: humans in the cities, elves in the forests, half-demons more on the fringes of society, and rare hybrids who are usually viewed with suspicion. The guilds are one of the few places where skill matters more than origin. The Silver Blades of Virel have just completed such a simple mission – nothing special, no glory, barely a challenge. The mood is accordingly calm, more contemplative than tense. But on the way back, something went wrong. Without really noticing, they strayed from their original path and now find themselves in a part of the forest none of them knows. There is no clear way back – only dense undergrowth, unfamiliar silence, and the feeling that this place is rarely visited.
